Qualificants Impressions International Championships
Winner / Report
The Catan boardgame, designed by Klaus Teuber, with its widespread popularity, invited over 3.400 Catan players in Germany, Austria, Italy, England, Belgium and the Netherlands to qualify for the International Championships.

This was the first Championship we organised, that really was International, including even players from Japan. Here the idea of an real World Championships was born.

At the first Catan World Championships 18 nations took part - in all those nations there were National Championships played (or at least qualifiers). A total of about 5.000 players did participate worldwide.

In spite of a few communication problems, the finals of the World Championships did run smoothly and after two days we were able to determine the first Catan World Champion!
The finals were played with the american version published by Mayfair Games.

Winner / Report
The second Catan World Championships already featured 48 players from 24 nations, for the first time including Corean players. Add most of Europe joined in this Championships.

For the first time and the only time so far a local competitor, Michel Hirschfeld from Germany, took the title of World Champion. All of this Championships was strongly connected to the sole sponsor, Capcom - so accordingly the World Championships were played on the japanese Catan board.
